Lithuanian Post Receives International Recognition
On October 9, at the headquarters of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in Bern, Switzerland, Lithuanian Post was presented with the "Rising Star" award.
To mark World Post Day, the UPU named Lithuanian Post the recipient of the "Rising Star" award, recognizing the company’s significant progress in the field of postal development. This honor is based on countries' performance in the UPU’s Integrated Index for Postal Development (2IPD), which assesses the development and progress of the postal sector on a global scale.
"For the Embassy of Lithuania in Switzerland, which represents Lithuania in UPU activities in Bern, it is particularly gratifying to see Lithuania’s ambition and achievements receive such significant international recognition," says Darius Semaška, Ambassador of Lithuania to Switzerland.
This recognition reflects the company’s consistent investment in infrastructure and the expansion of its parcel locker network, as well as its successful growth in the Latvian and Estonian markets, where the "Unisend" parcel locker network has been operating for over two years.
The UPU’s Integrated Index for Postal Development is one of the most comprehensive global assessments of the postal sector. It covers more than 170 countries and is based on postal operational data collected by the UPU, official statistics, and other sector-specific indicators. When evaluating countries, four key areas are taken into account: service reliability, international reach and postal network integration, alignment with market needs, and resilience and adaptability to change.
The index does not merely assess absolute results. The UPU compares these against a country’s economic and geographical potential, making it possible to gauge how effectively the postal sector leverages its opportunities.
